FPT INDUSTRIAL UNVEILS THE NEW C16 1000 MARINE ENGINE AT 2018 CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL
A Guinness World Record engine can now be used in light commercial and pleasure marine applications: FPT Industrial has unveiled its C16 1000 marine engine during the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival. Last March, a powerboat with a special version of the Cursor 16 achieved the fastest speed on water - 277,5 km/h using a diesel engine. Though the new Cursor 16 has just been unveiled, the engine is already a Guinness World Record holder.
The highlights of the new flagship engine are its top performance, compactness and lightness. Although it is a 16-liter engine, it is the only one of its kind in the market to fit in the packaging of a 13-liter engine, making the installation easier and giving the final customer a wider space on board. The model has a 6-cylinder in-line architecture and the latest generation of the Common Rail injection system. Its power can reach 1,000 hp at 2,300 rpm, which makes the engine one of the best of its category in terms of performance.
The Cursor 16 has also 25% more durability than the competitors’ average and the power of 63hp/lt and torque (220 Nm/lt) density are among the best of the light commercial segment. The engine was also designed with specific air, water, oil and fuel circuits to leverage its reliability and resistance to salt and water. Finally, the engine has reduced impact on gas emissions, noise and vibrations, respecting the most stringent environment regulations and offering a higher comfort of navigation.
At the Cannes Yachting Festival, FPT Industrial also showcased other products from its portfolio, which supports a complete range of engines that goes from a 3-liter to a 16-liter displacement and a power range between 230 hp and 1,000 hp. Some of the engines available in Cannes were the C9 650 from the Cursor series and the recently launched NEF N67 570 EVO.
