FPT INDUSTRIAL PRESENTS ITS MULTI-POWER SOLUTIONS AND LAUNCHES ITS E-POWERTRAIN TEAM AT IAA IN HANNOVER
At IAA 2018 in Hannover, FPT Industrial further demonstrated its leadership as a multi-power solutions provider, launching its e-Powertrain team while displaying its electric powertrain solutions.
With the upcoming introduction of the Euro VI Step D Standard, the new European regulation to limit air pollutant emissions for all new heavy duty commercial vehicles and buses registered from September 1st, 2019, the importance of alternative and innovative sustainable technologies has increasingly risen.
On account of this, FPT presented a Diesel-Hybrid Powertrain featuring the F1A Euro VI Step D engine, which combines the lowest emission rate in its category with the qualities of a regular diesel engine. The 2.3-liter engine was presented in a configuration for heavy duty applications for the first time. It has a power range between 136 hp and 156 hp and its parallel-hybrid configuration enhances the already low emissions.
The powertrain is also composed of the FPT 2835.6 manual transmission, the transfer box and the NDA rear axles. FPT engines from the NEF and Cursor families (displacement range from 4.5 to 12.9 liters) will also be ready for the Euro VI Step D Standard. The company is focusing its research and development activities to provide the most cost-efficient powertrain solutions for the new regulation.
The Gas-Hybrid solution presented at the event was the F1C NG, combined with an electric system for urban bus applications. Because of its 100% electric mode option, the system can power buses up to 12 meters that can enter Zero Emission Vehicle areas, it has smart energy management and can reduce CO2 emissions by 30%, fuel consumption and noise. The F1C NG can be fueled with CNG, LNG and biomethane and delivers the same robustness and reliability as its Diesel equivalent.
In the electric field, FPT Industrial recently developed the E-Powertrain Concept with the new E-Axle. The fully integrated electric motor has a dual-stage gear reduction that provides 98% efficiency and is adaptable to different customers’ needs - it can support front, rear and all-wheel drive layouts with different suspension systems.
