The Beauty Beneath the Surface. FPT Industrial and Tethys Research Institute for biodiversity protection
In this movie we follow Tethys Research Institute, a non-profit research organisation supporting marine conservation through science and public awareness.
"Learning about the beauty and riches of the sea transforms people."
Caterina Lanfredi, Marine Biologist PhD, Tethys Research Institute
FPT Industrial collaborates with Tethys Research Institute to protect and promote biodiversity, aligning with Iveco Group's global sustainability strategy. This partnership emphasizes the importance of biodiversity for ecosystem balance and local communities, and we are committed to strengthening people's bond to nature by building valuable relationships of mutual respect.
Meeting Tethys highlighted the richness, the beauty and vulnerability just beneath the surface of our sea. Their awareness efforts are vital, as knowledge powers change and can make a difference in protecting marine species.
FPT Industrial supports Tethys Research Institute by providing two NEF N67 marine engines to repower Pelagos, the vessel which monitors cetaceans in the Pelagos Sanctuary, the largest protected marine area in the Mediterranean.

Giving a new life to Pelagos has been a significant engineering experience as well. Understanding the needs of a vessel for extended missions, which must be reliable while minimizing its impact on its surrounding environment, in terms of both emissions and vibrations, has been a priceless opportunity.
The NEF engine line, launched in 2000, has continuously evolved to meet diverse and challenging applications. With 2 million NEF engines in use across various sectors, they are a testament to durability, reliability and minimal maintenance, crucial for demanding and lengthy missions as Pelagos'.
