SAFEGUARDING MARINE BIODIVERSITY

Mediterranean Sea
Captain Roberto chose our FPT N67 engines to give new life to Pelagos, his 21-metre motor sailer that, after twenty years at sea, needed a reliable repowering. Sailing around 1,000 hours per season, often 10 to 12 hours a day at low speeds, Pelagos required efficiency, endurance, and trust. Beyond performance, the vessel plays a vital role in protecting marine life: it supports the Tethys Research Institute in monitoring cetaceans within the Pelagos Sanctuary, the largest protected marine area in the Mediterranean.
On board the motorsailer Pelagos, guided by Captain Roberto, an environmental mission of great importance is carried out: the monitoring and protection of cetaceans within the Pelagos Sanctuary, the largest marine protected area in the Mediterranean.

Operating intensively from May to October, the vessel exceeds 1,000 hours of navigation per season. To guarantee consistent performance during long observation campaigns, it required propulsion systems ensuring high reliability, low vibration levels, and steady operation over long distances at low speeds.
From the very beginning, Captain Roberto chose FPT as his trusted partner for the repowering of Pelagos. Our team of experts supported him throughout the entire process: from identifying the ideal engine configuration to managing each stage of the repowering, ensuring seamless installation and delivering the expected efficiency and stability.
Built for reliability and long-term performance, the new propulsion systems will keep Pelagos sailing smoothly for years to come, backed by the FPT service network, always ready to provide assistance whenever needed.
