FPT JOINS CONFINDUSTRIA NAUTICA TO STRENGTHEN ITS PRESENCE IN THE RECREATIONAL MARINE SEGMENT

FPT, the Iveco Group company dedicated to the design, production, and sale of powertrains and solutions for on- and off-road vehicles, as well as marine and power generation applications, recently joined the Italian Marine Industry Association, Confindustria Nautica.

A national non-profit institution, Confindustria Nautica has represented the interests of the entire yachting supply chain since 1967, both nationally and internationally. It is dedicated to encouraging and enabling the growth of the sector’s businesses, promoting marine culture, and developing nautical tourism across Italy.

This decision, which will further reinforce and facilitate relationships with all players of the Italian yachting supply chain, comes at a time when FPT is experiencing exponential growth in both customer interest and demand in marine engines for the recreational segment, thanks to the particular, world-renowned characteristics of its products: reliability, efficiency, torque density, and high power-to-weight ratio.

FPT has had a presence in the marine propulsion market since 1965, offering a complete range of best-in-class engines with displacements from 3 to 15.9 liters, and rated engine power of between 85 and 1,000 hp, while the specific yacht lineup ranges from 230 to 1,000 hp. Designed to power vessels from 26 to 79 feet, the Brand’s range of marine engines meets the requirements of a wide range of boat types, from pleasure boats to light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vessels. This comprehensive product offering is complemented by an extensive service network and a well-established presence in key maritime markets.

Every day in Italy, two new boats are powered by FPT marine engines. The over 200 service points in the Mediterranean area provide a prompt response in case of issues and continuous assistance. Such a strong regional presence is backed by a global network of more than 70 distributors and over 900 service points, ensuring that the Brand’s products, services and technical expertise are always within reach of shipyards and vessel operators around the world.

Supporting both internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid configurations, FPT offers flexible solutions, which can be adapted to any customer’s operational requirements. FPT has always actively worked together with Italian shipyards, not just providing a complete range of products and extensive experience, but also taking part in new projects thanks to the possibility of configuring its marine engines on the basis of the specific needs of the designers.

The importance of recreational engines in FPT’s complete offering is clear when analyzing some nationwide sector data. Italian shipyards, that export more than 90% of their production, account for approximately 18% of the global market — with prospects of further growth — and hold a global market share of about 31% for inboard yachts, which is the main sector of interest for FPT (Source: The State of the Art of the Global Yachting Market - Edition 2026 – Abstract).

“The distinctive characteristics of FPT’s range of marine engines are tailored to the recreational shipbuilding sector, where excellence is the standard,” says Vittorio Bertalli, Head of Sales EMEA at FPT. “And Confindustria Nautica, of which we are a proud member, is the ideal place to create and strengthen those industrial synergies which have been the driver of FPT’s success and of the further growth of the Italian nautical supply chain, a sector which alone generates 13 billion Euros of added value and nearly 168,000 jobs.”

“Quality, innovation and excellence set the Italian boating industry apart, underpinning its leadership across international markets. We are delighted to welcome FPT, a world-leading brand in propulsion systems, to Confindustria Nautica; its experience, technological expertise, and capacity for innovation represent significant added value for our supply chain. This new member confirms the appeal and strength of the Italian boating sector and demonstrates the importance of consolidating synergies among industry leaders, in order to support competitiveness and foster the sector’s growth throughout global markets,” commented Piero Formenti, President of Confindustria Nautica.
