A TYPICAL BRAZILIAN CERRADO FRUIT TO ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The ‘Pequis project’ aims at representing an opportunity, for local families, to earn an additional income. The community enthusiastically welcomed the far-sighted “Pequis project”, which is developing in a socially challenging environment. Lessons took place at the Raymundo Gravito Municipal School and involved fathers, mothers, students and school personnel. In addition to being an excellent entrepreneurial initiative, the project has also been a tool to highlight the importance of preserving trees in the Cerrado region and, consequently, the surrounding environment. The project involved eighteen community members and twelve FPT Industrial volunteers. At the end of the lessons, pequi-based products have been showcased at the school and sold at the Sete Lagoas industrial complex, promoting and encouraging pequi consumption.
