Nohemí Pérez is the winner of the third edition of the FPT for Sustainable Art award. Created and sponsored by FPT Industrial in partnership with Artissima, for the last three years this prize has chosen to leverage contemporary arts to expand the horizons of perception and communication of sustainability matters. This year’s topic is Carbon Neutrality, and with her work Apuntes para quemas the Colombian artist was able to create an indissoluble link between expressive medium and climate emergency. Created using coal mined on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, the work represents the plant and animal species which are at risk of extinction due to the devastation caused by indiscriminate industrial activities and social conflict. Created with disconcerting grace, it is a dramatic exhortation to act before it is too late.
