CURSOR series is FPT’s flagship engine family for off-road, designed to provide best in class performance for equipment with highly intensive missions, ensuring low operating costs, high performance and maximum prod​uctivity.

Specifically designed for heavy duty off-road applications, Cursor Series’ proven robustness and reliability leverage on structural strength, representing the right solution for the most demanding agriculture, construction and industrial applications (such as large-size tractors, harvesting machines, wheel loaders, forestry equipment).

Available in 4 engine models (8.7, 11.1, 12.9 and 15.9 lt displacement), Cursor engines come with a 6-cylinder architecture featuring the most advanced Common Rail injection system (up to 2200 bar) to ensure optimal combustion efficiency; proven turbocharger architectures allow airflow optimization to deliver high performance and low fuel consumption.​

With long-standing EGR free technology and our exclusive patented HI-eSCR aftertreament, Cursor engines represent the right choice for fuel efficiency, low operating costs and maximum reliability.

​Awarded as “Diesel of the Year 2014”, Cursor16 was launched as brand new engine in 2014 based upon the longstanding off and on-road heritage of Cursor family. Cursor16 was originally applied on record-breaking Combine Harvester and is the only 16-liter on the market specifically designed and validated for industrial applications, delivering 18-li​ter performance in a 13 liter engine package.

Features & benefits

NO EGR architecture, latest generation “Heavy Duty” Common Rail injection up to 2200 bar, combined with the use of steel pistons and a FPT-developed double re-entrant combustion bowl, ensure optimal combustion efficiency. Ball-bearing Wastegate (WG) turbocharger further improves dynamic response and guarantees best in class performance (up to +10% power density and torque density Vs. market average). The HI-eSCR system is regeneration-free, allowing continuous operation avoiding unplanned stops during daily activities, especially when operating in indoor environments, thus improving uptime.

Avoiding the use of DPF, the FPT’s patented HI-eSCR system represents a maintenance free “fit and forget” solution ensuring low operating costs and maximizing vehicle uptime.

No DPF and “regeneration free” ATS system to avoid any risk of system clogging while ensuring safe operations even in dusty environments. All-new compacted graphite iron (CGI) cylinder head grants higher resistance with lower weight and, together with re-inforced engine structure, ensure robustness and reliability in any operating condition.

Cursor 16 is the most compact 16-liter engine on the market (-7% Vs competitor average), and best-in-class for power-to-weight ratio (+15% Vs competitor average at 0,5 hp / kg).
